The KAS-131-SP Analog Sensor measures scalar Wind Speed (i.e. wind speed only) in automatic weather station applications. A 3-cup anemometer rotor coupled to an optical chopper is used for this purpose. The chopper output frequency indicates the wind speed. The sensor output is a switching signal of 5V logic compatibility but the output is actually analog in the sense that the variation of the output parameter is in the continuous time domain rather than in discrete quantized states.
