The KDS-081 Sensor measures the temperature of sea water in marine data gathering environments. Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) are used for the purpose. The sensor is designed for immersion/suspension in shallow sea water up to a depth of 20m. It is used in coastal observatories, on buoys, etc., in applications like sea surface temperature monitoring. The data is used in the short term for marine weather forecasts. Long-term use includes predicting changes in ocean currents & the effect on the global climate.
