The KDS-151 Sensor detects the presence of surface moisture on leaves and calculates the duration of wetness. When moisture is present, a glass-epoxy plate that carries gold plated, inter-digitated surface conductivity measuring patterns changes its electrical resistance in proportion to the moisture which accumulates on the sensing surface.
The indigenously developed sensor is used for greenhouse studies & control systems and for scheduling irrigation. It also allows researchers to protect plants by giving early warning about fungus & insect attacks.
